Back to Birth Weight

Evie went to her first Doctor's appointment yesterday and the news is all good. She is very healthy and she is already back up to her birthweight (well actually, she is 6 lbs, 12.5 oz - but rounding up it works)

Robbie continues to be thebest big brother that Evie has ever had! Here he is reading to her about Thomas.

Bathtime

Clean-up time! While we are waiting for her umbilical chord to heal, Evie has to have sponge baths. Brrr. They are just way too cold.

Code Pink

On our last day in the hospital, we were approached by Nancy, the head OB nurse with a proposition. She wanted to run a real drill for her nurses by pretending that Evie was taken from the floor. So, we staged the abduction of our little girl. She was being assessed in the nursery when a fire drill occurred. What no one else knew, was that Nancy brought her to daddy and removed her tracking device. Daddy then took her and locked himself in Nancy's office. After the fire drill, I was to come out of the bathroom and discover Evie's "empty" bed. I paged the nurse and let her know that Evie was not there. The nurses were very reassuring to me, but in the hall the fray ensued.

They called a code pink and everyone on the floor did an incredible job. Even knowing that it was not real, I still cried. I mean, even pretend, the thought of Evie being abducted was hard to handle. It was revealed that it was only a drill and we were in on it - and then the real love began. I of course am being sarcastic. It was a traumatic event for the nurses and, well, I think that maybe, just maybe they were a touch mad at us. Anyway, I was glad that we were going home soon!

I especially felt bad for the nurse who was in charge of the nursery. She had to come in our room and put a new tracking device on Evie. She was so upset by the event that she teared up. People who are emotional are good people - thus sayeth their queen. Eventually, I would love to put a picture of an empty baby bed with this story - but of course, I didn't think of that until we got home.

All in all, it was a good code pink - good = safe baby.

I Am!

Still Pregnant

Welcome to the world of my little girl. This is still a work in progress, but it is a beginning. I was going to do a combined blog for my children, but then discovered that there is new technology out there which could turn my blog into a table-top scrapbook. So I thought that would record her stuff seperately so that she has a hope and a prayer of having a scrapbook someday. Anyway, here is a picture of her - sorta.
